The Ant and the Dove
An ant ventured to the banks of a serene river, its thirst a stark contrast to the serene surroundings. Its journey was cut short, however, as a sudden rush of water carried it towards the center of the stream. Drowning seemed its inevitable fate.
Then, from above, a Dove intervened. Perched on a tree that overhung the water, she plucked a leaf and let it gently fall into the stream, just beside the struggling ant. With a burst of energy, the ant climbed onto the leaf, finding a safe ride to the riverbank.
But fate had more in store. Soon after, a bird catcher appeared, hidden under the tree's cover. He laid his lime-tigs in wait for the Dove, who was unknowingly seated in its branches. The ant, seeing the trap, courageously stung the bird catcher's foot.
The pain was instant and severe, causing the bird catcher to angrily throw down his tigs. The commotion caused by his movements caused the Dove to take flight, wings beating in panic.
What goes around comes around. As the ant had saved the dove from being caught, the dove had in turn saved the ant from drowning. And in their shared moment of need, their actions reminded us of an eternal truth: one good turn deserves another. This simple lesson in kindness and reciprocity is beautifully captured in this tale of an ant and a dove, both struggling against their own challenges while finding help within their own ecosystems.
